Jim Yoakum tells us about his company and how he decided to start his business.

While he lives in Philadelphia, Camden and NJ provide a better business startup environment. Allowing him to 'self-distribute', is important for a business like his.

The still is from Spain.
The product is currently rum. It can be made and brought to market quickly. In the near future (2016) he plans to offer whiskey and bourbon.

FORMER HADDONFIELD COMMISIONER...Ed Borden

In addition to being a former commissioner, Ed is a former trial lawyer.

Ed shared his thoughts with us on Haddonfield, Bancroft (RCA) .. he initiated the referendum to purchase the property.. but it was defeated. The county also proposed buying a portion of the property... Since the defeat of the referendum, nothing has happened / people are not being kept informed.

Ed shared his thoughts on other topics and as a member of the Haddonfield Foundation, told us that  they will be funding improvements to the Historical Society. He also told us now is the time to donate and to consider a bequest.

The Board of Education is also working on a referendum to improve buildings to address deferred maintenance.

Elected Official Series -- John Moscatelli

John Moscatelli
Tells us about current topics in town.

Sale of the water system is going well.

We were able to retire the borough debt last year.

There is a lot of consideration on the future of Haddonfield. But don't expect to see much change. What we have is working pretty well.

We have taxation issues. We do not get much in the way of state aid with respect to what we contribute. Higher taxes tend to drive out empty nesters and replace smaller homes with larger home on smaller lots. The larger home are less affordable to new families.

Plan to use the money that had been going to service the debt to fund road work. They are working on a five year plan for the roads. After that they plan to work on existing infrastructure -- buildings, etc.

Another item they are working on is shade trees. there are about 9000 trees in Haddonfield and they are working on diseased oak and ash.

Bancroft - the area is zoned R2 the owners still need o file their intent. Once done the zoning board can rule on the intent and possibly go to court.  If Haddonfield is able to buy the property, the concept is to make it tax neutral by balancing he non-taxable and taxable properties.

Harlem Globetrotters

Eric Nemeth tells us a bit about the Globetrotters and his experiences working for them.

For example, they once played a game on the roof of the Spectrum in Philadelphia, and twice on ice (with special shoes).

The are many honorary Globetrotters, 9 of which are popes!

Currently 3 women are on the roster,

The club was started in Chicago by Herb Saperstein and their name was the Savoy Big 5.

He challenged our memories of the team and those with the correct answer won a prize...
