Red Kettle Collection - December, 2023

Our Annual Red Kettle Collection for the Salvation Army

Each year we have a day where we volunteer to staff a Red Kettle
collection for the Salvation Army at the KROC Center in Camden.

We do this at the Acme in Haddonfield. We form teams to staff the Red Kettle in 1 hour sessions. The volunteers always have a lot of fun seeing their friends and collecting for a very good cause. This year we thank:
Bill Brown
Jay Cokos
Tom Diemer
Bill Hoffman
Roger Jacobs
Chuck Kanupke
Al Schmidt
Dave Tarditi

This year had a an unexpected suprise. We were missing the Red Kettle!

Our ever resourceful team called our Salvation Army contact Dawn Garlic and she arraged a special delivery of a Red Kettle for us. In the meantime our team used a "Red Bag" to collect the money.

Nice job guys and thank you Dawn.

On the previous day, our 65 Club members brought unwrapped gifts, toys, toiletries, etc to our annual Christmas Holiday Luncheon at Tavistock Country Club and we delivered them to the wonderful volunteers at the Salvation Army's Ray & Joan Kroc Center in Camden, NJ.

Delivered Gifts to Salvation Army Folloing Our Holiday Party

Delivered the generous gifts collected at the 65 Club Christmas Holiday Luncheon at Tavistock 12/12/23 to the Salvation Army Kroc Center in Camden. Their time frame was limited so no time for us to display individual packages around the tree as per last year.
Most appreciated by the staff, who immediately went to work to add to their gift displays. Good effort 65’ers
!
Al & Roger.

Members Appreciation Barbecue, August 24th

On August 24, we held a members apprciation barbeque.

We celebrated our ability to come together and enjoy each others company. It was a time to have chats with members that we don't always have the opportunity to just catch up on what they have going on.

Lunch was burgers, hotdogs, snacks, drinks, sheet cake for dessert.

It was a perfect day for grilling and chatting. Below are photos of this event.

July 4th 2023 Parade - We won 2nd Place

Our parade this year was very creative and involved a lot more than just our club members. Thanks to the creative work of Frank Lodge and Chuck Kanupke, we had a great showing.

The 65 Club honored trained Service Dogs and the contributions they provide their owners
and service recipients

Walking in the parade were a wide-range of trained canines that
perform in various capacities:
  • Service dogs -- Service Dogs are partnered with adults and children with disabilities to assist with daily tasks and increase independence by reducing reliance on other people.
  • Facility Dogs - Facility Dogs are expertly trained dogs that are partnered with a facilitator/helper working in a health care, visitation or education setting.
  • Service Dogs for Vets – Service Dogs can help veterans regain independence, pride and hope. The love, loyalty and positivity of a canine partner can make a profound, lasting impact on veterans dealing with difficult emotions that are hard to communicate.
  • Therapy Dogs - Therapy Dogs accompany their owner into specific settings for the benefit of the residents or clients as part of a therapeutic intervention. Therapy Dogs provide both physical and psychological benefits to humans and the dog.  They participate in education where students are involved or experience trauma situations. They play a critical part to offer love, attention,
  • and affection in natural disasters.
  • Seeing Eye Dogs - The Seeing Eye Dog’s role is to enhance the dignity independence, and self-confidence of people who are blind/sight impaired through the of specially trained dogs.

Parade canines and their owners represented a variety of expert-trained service dog organizations – Canine Companions, Penn Vet Working Dog Center, Tri-State Working Dog
Center and others.

Of course our Mascot, Ty, was there to keep us in check

as well as Bill Brown, with a 1 day pass from Care One.
