Trip to Ft Mifflin - March 23, 2019

On a sunny and cool day, our club and friends boarded our luxury school bus in the parking lot of the Pub for our trip to Ft Mifflin just at the end the airport runways on the Delaware river in Phila.

Once there, we met in the Hospital and Mess House outside the fort for an introduction to the life at the fort during revolutionary war.

We also learned a bit about who wore which uniform and what they carried from canteens to muskets. Most soldiers in the Continental Army, didn't have the dress uniform, just their hunting clothes and a blanket.

After learning more about the life at Ft Mifflin, we started our tour with a demonstration of loading and firing a musket.

Then it was on to the fort for tours of the barracks, the grounds and the commandant's house.

We finished with the firing of a cannon and then on to the Pub for lunch.
