Stag Lunch At Tavistock CC 10-8-2020

The Haddonfield 65 Club held it's annual Fall luncheon at Tavistock Country Club on Thursday, October 8th.

The awards, usually presented to members at the spring luncheon, due to the virus were presented at this time. Awards were made for the 2019-2020 seasons of golf, bridge, bowling, and pinochle.

In addition, the most prestigious award of the Haddonfield 65 Club was presented to two active members .The Bill Hitchins Award is not an annual award, but one that is presented when the board of directors feels that a member is worthy. The criteria used by the board is the member has served in any position in an exemplary fashion for seven years or more. Or served in multiple positions and implemented new ideas that have  benefited the club above and beyond his appointed or elected position.

This is a most unusual year as for the first time we have two members that will receive the award in the same year.

The first recipient was Bob Parsons who served as the club president in 2012, served on the Board of Directors since 2009, has coordinated the club's spring and fall luncheons since 2010, utilized his video expertise to record special events and presentations at the club and occasionally provides a joke or two at our meetings. Bob is a former Citizen of the Year selection presented by the Haddonfield Lions Club

The second recipient was Al Schmidt, who served as the club president in 2018, served on the Board of Directors since 2013, developed and maintains our website, handles the technical side of our Zoom meetings, coordinates our venues for the Wine and Cheese Parties, and provides technical expertise to the club as needed. Al was a recipient of the Camden County Freedom Award.

With members like this it's no wonder that the 65 Club has prospered during these difficult times.

We had a great lunch at the Country Club, outside, any we enjoyed getting together at long last. Our thanks to Bob Parsons and his team for pulling all together.

Bill Brown did a great job running the meeting..

It was great to see and hear from the mayor..

AND in this time of the Presidential Election it was timely and very entertaining to hear from Samuel Clemens. We always appreciate his wry wit.
